Movie Reviews: The perks of being a wallflower

The perks of being a wallflower (2012)

It's about Charlie, a freshman at a high school who feels his life was no more that a wallflower.
He was an introvert and does not have many friends.
He was aware that his life as a freshman will be dreadful, and his way of adapting to his situation was by counting the days that he will spend there until his graduation.

His life changed after he befriend with Patrick, a senior who was in the same class as him.
He also gets to know Patrick's stepsister and was soon accepted into the senior's clique.
He falls in love, acted in the Rocky Horror picture show as Rocky, went to parties, involved in love life conflicts and get stoned. His life eventually changed and he was more than a wallflower.

The movie also showed him as a mentally disturbed boy. He kept having flashbacks of his childhood. Of him and his aunt Helen whom died in a car accident.
It seems that aunt Helen sexually abused him as a child and the incidents traumatized him. He was unable to cope with this when the people that he loves a.k.a his senior best friends graduated and went to each of their university of choice.
He attempted suicide but was stopped before he do so. He was then treated in a mental institute and soon was well again.

And after that, he stopped counting his days at high school, because he knows that his life was more than a wallflower.

I love the story line of this movie!
I love how the Patrick's clique accepted Charlie even though he was just a freshman.I love how strong their friendship's bond are. And how much trust one can harbor on another person.
And believe me, the movie is much more fun than what I described. >.-

I personally love this movie and give it a 4/5 stars.

Thanks for reading! XOXO Gee.

Book Reviews: For one more day by Mitch Albom

I read one of Mitch Albom's five people you meet in heaven before and I instantly fall in love with him and his book the moment I finished that first story.
Mitch's book was simple yet meaningful and full of emotion involved.

I adopted his second book "For one more day" at Popular's book fair last week and it was a great bargain. The book was on sale for such a cheap price that ignoring it would be unforgivable. I finished the book in one day time and here is my review on his story. Enjoy. :)

FOR ONE MORE DAY - Mitch Albom
"Have you ever lost someone you love and wanted one more conversation, one more chance to make up for the time when you thought they would be here forever?"

It was a story about a guy.
A daddy's boy turned to mama's boy when he was eleven and
A guy that loses everything after his mother died.
He blamed himself for the death of his mother,
and for not being there for her when the tragedy happened.

He was so full of guilt and regret that he get involved with alcohol and abandoned his job.
He leave his wife and kid, and 8 years later, he received an enveloped containing the wedding photos of his daughter.
He was so sadden that his only daughter was ashamed of him and does not inform or invite him to the wedding.
Feeling that he was alone and life was meaningless, he decided to take his own life.
He had an accident on his way to his hometown (where he wishes to end his life), but he survived and he walked back home. He then went to a water tower that he used to climb with his friends when he was young and jumped off it. But, even after that, he survived.

With all the cuts and bruises on his body, he walked back to his old house.
And surprisingly, he found his mother there.
He spent the whole day with his mother, accompanying her to meet with her 3 customers, which held a very significant role in their life.
It seems that, " When someone is in your heart, they're never truly gone. They can come back to you, even at unlikely times"
He get his one last day with his mother, and his mother helped him get back to his feet.

For more detailed story, do read it yourself.

Travel Affairs: Nunuk Ragang, Ranau

"The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page" ~ Saint Augustine of Hippo

Nunuk Ragang is a small village and can be roughly be located at Tampias, where the two rivers Liwagu and Gelibang meet, to the east of Ranau and Tambunan.
"Nunuk" is a kadazan word for the word Banyan tree, while "Ragang" derivates from aragang, meaning red.
There are multiples sources of this legendary Nunuk Ragang origin, and basically, the story is about how the Kadazan/Dusun ethnic spread.
Me and le famille stop by this place when we were on our way to visit my sister at Telupid last year.
And above was the picture of the legendary tree house of Sabah.
The inside.
Cultural exhibition.
And a more accurate explanation of the origin of this place is available there.
Random photos of the place. :)
On top.

Nunuk Ragang situated at Kilometer 54 along the Telupid-Ranau highway and is about an hour drive from Ranau.
It is a nice and peaceful place that worth visiting by any nature lover. But expect no more than fresh air and nice views. :)

A short post about the places that you might love in Sabah. Ciao. Gee.

Le mice captured.

Holla lovely folks!

Do you still remember the time when I mistaken a moussie activity for a paranormal one?
And how it wrecked our room in just one week time?

Well, I supposed someone finally reported these culprits to the hostel management and some sort of intervention was done at our hostel.

Last week, a total of 3 mouse traps were set on my floor's corridor.
And for the first few days, the cage/mouse traps was unoccupied. No moussie was lured into one.
And I doubt that any mouse will get trapped in the cage at all.

But surprisingly, the day before yesterday.
One mouse get into one of the trap.
And another get into the other one on the next day.

And I thought that was all.

I personally thought there were only two mouse living on our floor.
And yet, the last cage held its victory this evening.
The third moussie was held captive within the mouse traps.
@.@
The 3 culprits.
The third victim.

@.@
I was wrong. There could be more rats in this hostel but there are no more cages for them. Huu.

Serve you right moussie!
Ciao. Gee

Foodie Affairs: Tanjung Aru Feast

" Part of the secret of success in life is to eat what you like and  let the food fight it out inside" ~ Mark Twain

Venue: Tanjung Aru Beach Food Court, Kota Kinabalu

The place is a well known place in KK.
And I bet you went to this place for at least once right? ;p

Well, for me.. The place is nice, with the beach and all. But for a single lady like me, I am not one of those people who enjoys a stroll along the beach, I might do so if I have a partner, but I don't have one for the time being  so, that's not one of the reason that I love this place. Hee.

And the foods. Yeah. Its all about the food.
And I'm not saying about the usual 'fried rice' or 'fried mee' from the rows of food stalls available on the food court either. I believe that you do agree with me that all that are of no difference compare to other food at other place other than Tg Aru right. (Sorry if the words are confusing.. ;p)

What I'm trying to say that I'm in love with about this place is theseeee!
1. Scrumptious Mixed fruits ABC
2. Luscious Satays
3. Delish Chicken Wings
4. And a newly discovered 'Keropok Lekor'
So what do you think, these are the reason why you kept going back to that place right?
;p

Just a simple post to make you drool. ;p
Ciao.. XOXO Gee.

Foodie Affairs: Pancake House, One Borneo

"Beware the hobby that eats" ~ Benjamin Franklin

The buddy had vow to take a bite on the pancakes of this awesome restaurant when it was first opened in One Borneo, Kota Kinabalu.
But, the plan was postponed for so many time due to unknown reason. Hee.
And at last. On this very day, we managed to fulfilled our self-made promise.

Venue: Pancake House, One Borneo KK
Le spontaneous trip between me and one of the buddy, le Firah.
wink ^.<
We were indecisive when making our orders as all the foods served in the restaurant was heavenly.
Not quite understand of what I'm trying to say here, why don't you flip through the menu and see for yourself. You will get a headache too right. ;p

After a period of contemplation, we choose the 'hearty mains and healthy dishes' course, which consists of a main dish and a glass of lemon iced tea.
Le Firah's Hot Roast Chicken
My Classic Pan Chicken.
The foods was nice but we haven't try the pancakes yet.
Will go again in the future for the pancakes! :)
